Governed by the Board of Trustees and the House of Delegates, the South Carolina Medical Association (SCMA) has numerous opportunities for physicians to become leaders. The opportunities are limitless for physicians to advocate for the preservation of organized medicine and for protecting the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship.

Dr. Wesley Frierson is an emergency medicine specialist in West Columbia, and he has over 20 years of experience in the medical field. He graduated from University of South Carolina at Aiken in 2004, and he is affiliated with Lexington Medical Center. In his spare time, he enjoys travel and golf.
I accepted the invitation to join the SCMA board knowing I would meet new people and I could help others. I have discovered that the association is an invaluable resource for remaining up to date about current legislative issues. I’m honored to be able to help, to talk directly to lawmakers who can make a big difference in the quality of healthcare and accessibility.
My SCMA board role is also an invaluable networking opportunity. I get to work with physicians from all over the state and draw inspiration from what they are doing in their communities.
