Q: What do you enjoy about managing CME at the SCMA?
A: The relationships I’ve built along the way. It’s always rewarding to connect with physicians and colleagues. Nothing warms my heart more than hearing, “Thank you, Necole, it’s great to hear you’re still with SCMA! You were such a big help to me last year.”
Q: What makes a CME successful?
A: Teamwork! Every activity requires a true “we” approach to make it successful. Collaboration is key from start to finish.
Q: What are some challenges you’ve encountered?
A: Timeliness in submitting presentations can be a challenge at times — it definitely keeps me on my toes!
Q: How do you come up with topics?
A: CME topics are developed by identifying educational needs and practice gaps that don’t align with current evidence-based standards. Additionally, South Carolina has specific requirements set by the state legislature. For example, under the South Carolina Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), also known as Senate Bill 840, all licensed physicians are required to complete two CME credit hours related to the approved program content.
Allow SCMA to Accredit Your Activity as CME
South Carolina Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. As an accredited provider of Continuing Medical Education, we follow the standard policies developed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
